Linux Game Publishing Remains Dormant
While Linux gaming keeps taking off left and right, one of the longest-standing organizations that's been involved with Linux game porting and distribution for more than one decade is still apparently doing nothing and increasingly becoming irrelevant, especially as more game studios pickup their own Linux development capabilities.
The company, of course, is the aptly named Linux Game Publishing.
It's been more than two years since the CEO shake-up and other major changes at Linux Game Publishing but in this time now we've seen no new game announcements or other marked efforts out of the company that began in 2011 following the demise of Loki Software. LGP has been silent on new titles though there were claims of new games coming, they began selling their outdated games on the Ubuntu Software Center and other online-based stores, they shutdown Penguin Play, and they haven't posted any news to their website since 2012.
It's just not me feeling they've faded away but conveniently a long-time Phoronix reader wrote in the Phoronix Forums recently about what Linux Game Publishing did in 2013. According to this Phoronix reader and forum contributor, Gbudny, they dropped Ixsoft, Fun4Tux, and LunuxPusher as game resellers, they bega giving away Steam keys for X3 now that Egosoft is maintaining the game and not LGP, and they posted a Facebook message that their new ticketing/support sytem is filled with spam. That unfortunately seems to be about it.
