Lately, when attending LAN parties, we have noticed more acrylic clear cases come about with gamers where their computer appearance is almost, if not equally important, as their frag rate when gaming. Many of the cases currently on the market are clear with no colored tints and often require assembly. The computer chassis we are examining today is the Logisys CS888UVRD Assembled UV Red Acrylic Clear Case. If you are unfamiliar with this specific model, this case offers four 80mm fans, four 5.25" drive bays, six 3.5" internal drive bays, and a red UV reactive tint around the entire unit.

Although Logisys has the Assembled Acrylic Clear Case available in blue and green UV colors, we received the red unit in this review. Portrayed on the side of the case packaging is a picture of a penguin, somewhat resembling Tux, with a fly swatter at hand while peering into the sky at the three different Assembled Clear Cases.

Unlike previous Logisys chassis' we have reviewed in the past, the CS888UVRD was extremely well packaged, as acrylic compares nowhere near the strength of SECC steel. The first security blanket was a styrofoam package that covered the entire unit, not just the corners. After removing the two styrofoam sides, the entire acrylic case was wrapped in bubble wrap. Finally, after removing the bubble wrap we simply had to remove a thin layer of plastic that protected the case from being scratched.

Inside the case, we found a bag full of screws and all of the necessary parts needed to mount all of your computer components inside the case. The included stand offs and screws are a bit longer than one would normally find included with a case, since clear acrylic cases don't have the conventional motherboard tray one generally finds, but the motherboard rather mounts directly against the side of the case, thus longer stand offs and screws are a must. To some dismay, the case feet aren't pre-applied, so that will need to be done manually.
