Logisys Assembled UV Red Acrylic Case
Performance:
To see if computer components would fit inside like a worn-in golf glove or rather an unpleasant mitten, we installed the following parts inside this Logisys sample case:
Hardware Components | |
Processor: | Intel Pentium 4 530 (3.0GHz) |
Motherboard: | DFI LANPARTY UT 915P-T12 |
Memory: | 1 x 512MB Mushkin PC4000 |
Graphics Card: | Sapphire X300SE |
Hard Drives: | Western Digital 80GB 7200RPM |
Optical Drives: | Lite-On 52x32x52 CD-RW |
Add-On Devices: | RT2400 802.11g WiFi Card |
Power Supply: | Logisys Pitbull 500 |
Software Components | |
Operating System: | FedoraCore3 |
Initially, we refrained from installing UV CCFLs until we had looked at the system in action with no lights, but afterwards we placed two 12" UV CCFLs inside the case for the full UV reactive experience. No problems were encountered when installing any of the components, except for as we mentioned previously, the lack of a motherboard tray that is due to the acrylic case. We did notice a lack of long screws, if you're going to be using all of the drive bays.
When the system was running with no lights active, we were fond of its see-through unique appearance. However, what was more exciting was when the UV lights were switched on.
Unfortunately, the four included fans aren't LED equipped. Equipping LED fans rather than UV fans would've possibly improved the appearance even more.
Conclusion:
Overall, Logisys has managed to stun us all with their acrylic clear case offering. The case is currently available in red, blue, and green - to match anyone's color tastes. For being composed of acrylic, the case was very well built with thick acrylic and precise manufacturing. Nevertheless, there were a couple of flaws we spotted. It would have been nice if all of the fan grills were identical, for a uniform appearance. In addition, if the fans were LED supported, the appearance could've improved even more. Some of the other minor flaws included the lack of a motherboard tray and number of screws required to gain access to the inside. Even so, this is a very nice looking case, especially when equipped with UV lighting.
Pros:
 Thick acrylic
 Large
 4 x 80mm fans
 Drive bays
 UV reactive
 Colored
Cons:
 Lack of included screws
Screws required to remove side panel
 Fan grills
 No motherboard tray
