Phoronix Test Suite 1.8 Delivers New Automated Testing Capabilities

Phoronix Test Suite 1.8 makes it easier to autonomously test Linux, Mac OS X, *BSD, and OpenSolaris systems.

Grand Rapids, MI -- April 6, 2009 -- Phoronix Media has today released Phoronix Test Suite 1.8 (codenamed "Selbu"), which is a sizable update to its very popular testing software. Phoronix Test Suite 1.8 introduces a graphical user-interface making it easier for end-users to test out their computer systems, adds support for reference system comparisons, is compatible with more *BSD operating systems, and adds a number of new test profiles and suites. The Phoronix Test Suite is designed to run benchmarks/tests atop Linux, Mac OS X, *BSD, and OpenSolaris systems in a clean, reproducible, and easy-to-use way.

A GTK2 graphical user interface in Phoronix Test Suite 1.8 makes it easier for new users to become acquainted with the testing software without having to master the command-line version. Nearly all of the same features available through the command-line version are available via the GUI and is designed for ease of use. In Phoronix Test Suite 2.0 the user interface will be officially supported and feature numerous enhancements.
