NVIDIA 387.12 Linux Beta Driver Has Vulkan Updates, Various Fixes
NVIDIA has launched their first beta driver in the 387 series for Linux.
The 387.12 beta Linux driver was just announced as their newest feature release. While ushering in a new driver series, this 387.12 release is mostly comprised of Vulkan updates and fixes.
The notable Vulkan work in the 387.12 beta driver is the full-screen flipping using X11 swapchains that has the potential for performance improvements of fullscreen Linux Vulkan games.
Some of the minor feature work includes support for YUV 4:2:0 compression via DisplayPort, frame-buffer console hotplug handling within the nvidia-modeset driver, better tiled monitor handling, and other minor updates.
There are many fixes throughout ranging from NVIDIA Settings problems to display/connector problems to NVIDIA kernel module issues.
