With OpenArena there isn't much change out of using Linux 3.17 nor the Oibaf PPA for Mesa 10.4-devel. Until GPU core and memory re-clocking is fully working and stable, the NVIDIA binary driver remains many times faster.

Interestingly with World of Padman there was a performance boost for all three NVIDIA GeForce 600/700 series graphics cards to note out of using Oibaf PPA + Linux 3.17, but the NVIDIA proprietary driver remained running hundreds of frames per second faster.

Warsow without Nouveau re-clocking support can't even push 30 frames per second with these high-end NVIDIA Kepler GeForce GPUs.
