Windows Subsystem For Linux / WSL2 Performance With The AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
In some cases Ubuntu on WSL2 comes out faster than Ubuntu itself, similar to what we have seen from past articles, and seems to stem from power management handling differences between the platforms.
But for most pure CPU workloads, Microsoft's Windows Subsystem for Linux works quite well for Linux workloads if not able to run them bare metal instead.
For workloads involving moderate I/O like code compilation of large software projects, WSL/WSL2 still generally imposes a measurable hit to the build speed.
