As we are used to seeing, for purely computational workloads without much I/O involvement or other kernel interactions the performance of WSL is quite comparable to the bare metal Linux performance...
But there are exceptions like in the case of the LAMMPS and GROMACS workloads where the performance on WSL was measurably slower than on bare metal Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS or the newest 20.10 state.
