One area where Ubuntu and/or the Linux kernel seem to have regressed is with the disk performance for this 8GB mini PCI-E SSD. The 512MB write performance was at 22.51MB/s in Ubuntu 8.04.2, but it had dropped to 14.90 MB/s in Ubuntu 8.10 and only recovered slightly to 17.22MB/s in this latest Ubuntu release.

While the 512MB write performance regressed, the 512MB read performance was relatively stable.

Like the 512MB writes, the 1GB writes had also regressed.

No changes were spotted with the OpenSSL performance on the Dell Inspiron Mini 9.
