Another win in the books for Ubuntu 14.10.

Of course, when it comes to compile times, the Clang-based environments are the easy winners. OS X though did much better here than Ubuntu with Clang.

OS X and Ubuntu were neck-and-neck with the C-Ray multi-threaded ray-tracer.

Primesieve is another application doing better with GCC due to its OpenMP support, but at least LLVM Clang 3.6 is looking like it will land OMP support.

Well, these results were fairly interesting and nearly across the board Ubuntu 14.10 x86_64 was superior to OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite on the 2013 MacBook Air with Core i5 Haswell processor.

Coming up shortly will be tests when using the latest Linux Git code, possible comparison with Fedora 21 from the same hardware, and also some power consumption comparisons between the operating systems. I also have a Apple MacBook Pro Retina that I might put through similar OS X vs. Linux paces too, pending sufficient interest and support.
