The PostgreSQL database server is interestingly much faster with macOS Sierra than Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS... Compiling with Clang on Ubuntu hadn't changed the numbers.

HINT with Clang was similar on both operating systems while the GCC-built Ubuntu result was fastest.

Clang is faster with SciMark2.

While GCC with OpenMP by default is faster for OpenMP tests.

Unfortunately I didn't run much in the way of OpenGL graphics tests... Since these systems are just Haswell-era HD/Iris Graphics and not having many PTS test profiles for graphics that are fully supported on macOS.

But for this old ioquake3-powered game, Ubuntu 16.04 with its open-source Mesa driver stack was much faster than the macOS 10.12 Sierra OpenGL driver.
