With Parallel BZIP2 compression, the Phenom II X3 710 was slightly faster than the Core i3 530 at stock speeds even when the Clarkdale has four logical cores. Of course, once overclocked, the story changed.

The Core i3 "Clarkdale" maintained strong leads over the Core 2 Duo E8400 and Phenom II X3 710.

AMD's Phenom II struggles with LAME MP3 encoding while the Core 2 Duo E8400 performed near identically to the Core i3 530.

The same as the MP3 encoding performance can be said for the higher-quality FLAC audio encoding.
