Docker Benchmarks: Ubuntu, Clear Linux, CentOS, Debian & Alpine
The Numpy Python performance was the best on the optimized bare metal host while it was surprising to see the big differences in performance with Ubuntu and Debian on Docker.
Caffe is also known to ship very well optimized for machine/deep learning tests such as Caffe. All these Caffe runs were CPU-only.
What did you think of these results? Did you expect the Docker results to be closer to native, particularly for I/O? It was great to see all of Clear Linux's performance work carry over into the Docker/container space. Share your thoughts or future test suggestions by commenting on this article in our forums.
