The same system was obviously used for testing along with all of the same game settings. The benchmark was fully-automated via the Phoronix Test Suite testing software. The latest NVIDIA Linux driver at the time of testing was used, which was NVIDIA 346.47 while on the AMD side was the Catalyst 15.3 Beta that's available from the Ubuntu Vivid archive.

This is a comparison of just the proprietary Linux graphics drivers as the open-source Mesa/Gallium3D drivers can't yet handle BioShock Infinite with this game needing at least OpenGL 4.2 support. The tested graphics cards for this preliminary NVIDIA vs. AMD Linux showdown was the HD 6450, HD 6570, HD 6950, HD 7850, HD 7950, R9 270X, R9 285, and R9 290 on the red front. The NVIDIA GeForce GPUs I've got around to testing so far were the GTX 550 Ti, GT 610, GT 740 SC, GTX 750 Ti, GTX 780 Ti, and GTX 980.
