With Mesa 10.2 just having been branched for its release in the weeks ahead, at Phoronix we have carried out some tests of four different graphics cards when using Mesa 10.1.0 as shipped by Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and then using the Oibaf PPA to upgrade to the latest Mesa 10.3-devel snapshot, which is still close to the state that Mesa 10.2 will be shipping.

The graphics cards tested for this R600g/RadeonSI comparison on Mesa 10.1 versus Mesa Git master (10.3-devel) were the Radeon HD 4850, HD 5830, HD 6870, and HD 7850 to represent a range of AMD hardware spanning several generations. Ubuntu 14.04 LTS was used for testing while we opted to use the Linux 3.14 stable kernel for the best dynamic power management support on the AMD hardware.

Radeon Mesa 10.2 Benchmarks

All of this Linux Radeon graphics benchmarking was done in a fully-automated and reproducible manner using the open-source Phoronix Test Suite software.
