The launch-day FirePro V8900 benchmarking was being done from an AMD FX-8150 Bulldozer setup that I have been extensively testing under Linux the past few weeks.

Turks WS Tests

The graphics cards used for comparison included:

FirePro V3800 - 512MB; 650/900MHz
FirePro V4800 - 1024MB; 775/900MHz
FirePro V4900 - 1024MB; 800/1000MHz
FirePro V5800 - 1024MB; 690/1000MHz
FirePro V5900 - 2048MB; 600/500MHz
FirePro V7900 - 2048MB; 725/1250MHz

All of these graphics cards were tested under Ubuntu 11.10 with the fglrx 8.91.4 Linux press driver. There are also Phoronix reviews under Linux of other FirePro products for those interested:

FirePro V7800
FireGL V8600
FirePro V8700
FirePro V8750
FirePro V8800

Unfortunately, no Quadro workstation graphics cards were used for comparison since NVIDIA still refrains from being interested in Linux media coverage of their consumer and workstation products.

Besides looking at the Linux OpenGL performance for these low and mid-range FirePro products, the system (AC) power consumption and GPU thermal performance were also compared. All of this testing is handled in a fully automated and reproducible manner using the Phoronix Test Suite and OpenBenchmarking.org.
