For AI workloads like with the Microsoft ONNX Runtime, the Zen 4 3D V-Cache processors can make a lot of sense depending upon the particular model and its size. With the fcn-resnet101-11 model, the 7900X3D is faster than even the 7950X while the 7950X3D takes a commanding lead over the rest of the 7900 series line-up.

These X3D processors also had a significant lead in lower latency as well.

With the advantages seen in ONNX, the Ryzen 9 7900X3D/7950X3D actually come out as great value even with their $100~150 premium over the X non-3D models.

All the while the Ryzen 9 7900X3D was pulling 102 Watts on average compared to 172 Watts with the 7900X and the Ryzen 9 7950X3D was pulling 118 Watts on average compared to 192 Watts with the 7950X. The power efficiency improvements here were phenomenal.

The lower CPU power consumption with the 7900X3D/7950X3D also translated to much lower core operating temperatures with the X3D processors all while using the same Corsair water cooling setup.
