Phoronix Meet-Up In Oslo Norway On 29 July
As mentioned last week, following the deadly terrorist attacks in Norway, I will be in Oslo this week through next Friday when it's time for the Linux Desktop Summit in Berlin. The first Phoronix meet-up is now scheduled to take place this Friday evening, the 29th of July.
There's been several Phoronix readers interested in meeting up that have emailed, posted in the forums, or used Twitter. I've been seeking recommended dates and times for any small Phoronix gatherings to discuss Linux, computer hardware, the Phoronix Test Suite, and any other topics wishing to be discussed.
Thanks to the quick input from a long-time Phoronix reader (Del_), it looks like this Friday evening (beginning around 17.00) I will be at Lekter'n in Aker Brygge, Oslo for any Phoronix readers wishing to stop by for this informal event. [The forum discussion.]
I'll likely be there for at least a couple of hours, depending upon the attendance. If you're interested in stopping by, contact me on Twitter or e-mail me or post a message in the comments area of the forums. Thanks to the help of "Del_", there should be a Phoronix reservation at Lekter'n in the name of Michael Larabel (or just walk around and look for laptop(s) and/or the Phoronix Test Suite logo). If you plan to attend though, please make it known in advance so we can ensure there is sufficient seating.
I'll be posting updates to my Twitter feed with more information that day -- ideally there will be some WiFi nearby too. I am getting into Oslo on early Friday morning, but hopefully there will not be any travel delays. If anyone can't make it out on Friday, I'll likely be tweeting my locations each day or let me know in advance and another Phoronix meet-up can be organized.
[Additionally, if there's any businesses or other organizations wishing to sponsor the meet-up in terms of alcohol or anything else for the Norwegian Linux users, please contact me ASAP.]
