Libinput 0.16 Now Supports Devices Like The Chromebook Pixel
The plans for Libinput 1.0 haven't yielded fruit yet, but libinput 0.16 is out this afternoon as the latest version of this input library used both by Wayland and X11 (and potentially Mir moving forward).
Libinput 0.16 doesn't make any API changes but does have improvements to its test suite, now supports touchpads with ABS_MT_DISTANCE, the tapping code now allows ending a tap-and-drag by having an extra tap sequence, and there's also now disable-while-typing support.
The ABS_MT_DISTANCE support in libinput 0.16 will notably help out in supporting the touchpad of the new Google Chromebook Pixel.
In total there's almost 100 changes found in libinput 0.16 with the full listing of work invested into this release being visible via the 0.16 release announcement by Red Hat's Peter Hutterer.
