Back in June I mentioned the plans for GStreamer 1.0 and that work is now beginning to materialize. GStreamer 0.11 has just been officially released as the first development snapshot for what will turn into the notable GStreamer 1.0 release.

GStreamer 0.11 has a lot of internal work, including a reworked buffer memory management system, support for arbitrary buffer meta-data, integrated buffer-pool management, improved dynamic pipeline handling, reworked video caps system, reworked pad probes, and many bug-fixes.

For those interested in more details on GStreamer 0.11 and its technical changes, see the core release notes. There's also this blog post about GStreamer 1.0 looming on the horizon by Christian Schaller.

GStreamer 1.0 will also be discussed this weekend at the Berlin Desktop Summit.
