GNU ddrescue, an open-source data recovery tool that copies data from one file / block device to another while rescuing the good portions of data in case of read errors, is out with a new version.

GNU ddrescue 1.19 fixes a race condition, offers a variety of new options, trimming changes, a new scraping phase has been introduced for putting together the data not recovered by the copying or trimming phases, and various other changes. The license of GNU ddrescue has also changed to GPLv2 or later.

Among the new options for ddrescue 1.19 are --data-preview, --unidirectional, --exit-on-error, --cpass, and --pause.

More details on ddrescue 1.19 can be found via the GNU mailing list announcement.
