SYSTEMD
The latest feature of systemd is its networkd component now supporting network bridging.

Bridge support has been added to networkd and allows for creating network interface bridges on start-up and links are added to bridges as soon as they appear. Bridges are specified via a .netdev file with a new Bridge section.

More details via this Git commit. Bridge support in networkd will be a feature of the forthcoming systemd 209 release.
