Linux 3.11-rc7 Planned To Celebrate 22 Years Of Linux

Linus Torvalds released the Linux 3.11-rc6 kernel on Sunday evening. This sixth release candidate is fairly quiet for the Linux 3.11 kernel, but Linus is already planning to time the 3.11-rc7 release to celebrate the 22nd birthday of Linux.

The Linux 3.11-rc6 kernel takes care of some bugs and other odd behavior, but it mostly comes down to a random platter of fixes across the board.

In ending his brief weekly RC release announcement, Torvalds noted, "I'll try to remember to do some more interesting/relevant statistics for the rc7 release, because that should coincide with the 22nd anniversary of the original Linux announcement on comp.os.minix."
