LINUX KERNEL
Part 1 of the Direct Rendering Manager (DRM) pull for the Linux 3.7 kernel was merged this morning.

For Phoronix readers, the highlights of the DRM graphics kernel driver improvements for this cycle include:

- The reworked Intel driver mode-setting code along with many other Intel changes like improved Haswell and Valley View support. There's also finally RC6 power-savings support for Ironlake hardware.

- The basic Poulsbo DRM driver now supports DisplayPort and Embedded DisplayPort (eDP) for Cedarview hardware.

- The huge Nouveau driver code rewrite plus fan control support. Another important change is there's finally GeForce 600 Kepler series FUC support so you don't need to deal with the binary blob and MMIOtrace for extracting your own hardware microcode.

- Power management improvements and other work for the Radeon driver.

- Some new DRM code documentation for developers.

The DRM Part 1 pull request for Linux 3.7 can be found on the mailing list and was pulled this morning by Linus Torvalds. There's also going to be a second pull request this merge window with Samsung Exynos DRM driver changes plus some header file clean-ups in the coming days.
