Transcend DDR2-533 TS64MLQ64V5J
Last month when we had the Mars DDR2-667 KLCC28F-A8EB5 modules from Kingmax, we were quite impressed by the abilities of Elpida E5108AE-6E-E as we managed to run these SPD 5-5-5-15 parts at vigorous 3-3-3-8 timings, while completely stable in all of our tests including Memtest86+ v1.60. Up on our review bench today we have Transcend's 2 x 512MB DDR2-533 modules, which utilize similar Elpida ICs. Will these Transcend DDR2 modules offer any competitive features for reaching a high overclock, while sticking to taunt timings, or will these modules be nothing more than traditional PC2-4200 sticks? We'll find out today in our arsenal of memory testing.

Throughout the years we've seen numerous types of packaging to prevent the RAM from going astray during shipping and storage, but the main type of packaging we've seen for both DDR and DDR2 memory modules has been strictly the use of plastic packaging. Corsair, OCZ, GeIL, and Mushkin, among others have adopted variants of this plastic packaging technique for a majority of their products; however, Transcend continues to ship their modules in a traditional OEM style way by simply using anti-static bags. The main Transcend anti-static bag houses two smaller packages (also designed to resist static shock), which each contain a 512MB DDR2 module. On the main packaging is the small product label which specifics the exact part number as TS64MLQ64V5J. Protecting the modules when we received them was a large envelope of bubble-wrap for assuring no damage could incur during the shipping and handling process. Although Transcend's USA store includes a memory series introduction and warranty card pamphlet with their modules, we simply received these 2 x 512MB samples with no other accessories.
