Selecting the right RAM for systems these days is not an easy task, especially for die-hard enthusiasts. Not only do you have to pay attention to the size and speed of the modules, but you also have to do research on the chip types and compatibility issues. The type of chips on the memory modules can determine how much you will generally be able to push them. The two most popular chip types that manufacturers use these days are Samsung’s TCCD and Winbond’s UTT chips. TCCD chips are known for their ability to clock up to and beyond DDR600 at CAS 2.5. Winbond’s UTT chips are known for their ability to maintain very tight timings while pushing speeds of DDR520+. Either type results in blazing fast performance and high overclocks. Today we have some of OCZ’s newest modules, the EL DDR PC-3500 Gold GX Dual Channel. What kind of modules are they? Read more to find out.
