Fedora 20 Through Fedora 23 Benchmarks

For your viewing pleasure today are some fresh benchmarks comparing the out-of-the-box performance of Fedora 20, Fedora 21, Fedora 22, and Fedora 23 RC3 out-of-the-box on an Intel Xeon system with AMD R600g graphics. Here's a look at the Fedora Linux performance and that of the upstream Linux kernel / Mesa / GCC over the past two years.

My Intel Xeon E5-2687W v3 system with FirePro V7900 graphics card were used for running these fresh Fedora 20/21/22/23 benchmarks. The same system in its same configuration was used for all of this benchmarking.

Each release of Fedora Linux was cleanly installed and left in its stock configuration. Besides the kernel/Mesa/GCC versions noted in the Phoronix Test Suite system table, it's also worth noting that Fedora 20 was using ACPI CPUFreq as the CPU scaling driver where as the newer releases use P-State for this Intel Haswell system; that's also what causes the difference in the CPU frequency reporting on the table below.

While this testing today was just from a lone system, if there's enough interest I can carry out the same Fedora Linux release comparison on other systems too. All tests were automated in a fully-reproducible manner using the open-source Phoronix Test Suite benchmarking software.
