Not often do we look at computer accessories at Phoronix, but every once in a while some product looks interesting for whatever reason and we decide to try it out. With this review, we are looking at the AluStand from Artwizz. Artwizz is a company that is based in Berlin and was founded in just 2004 as a manufacturer of iPod and iPhone accessories, but since then they have branched out into developing other innovative products primarily designed for Apple devices, but other notebook computers too.

The Artwizz AluStand is an incredibly simple stand designed for notebooks. It just consists of two Z-shaped aluminum parts and a center middle piece that snaps into the two supports, which elevates the notebook off the desk. There is different grips on the top and bottom of these side supports for ensuring the stand does not slide around and that the notebook does not slide off the stand. The plastic middle piece also doubles as a place where you can rest any external keyboard when not in use. The AluStand is designed to raise the notebook display off the desk so that it is at eye-level and to increase air circulation around the notebook. With the AluStand just consisting of three pieces, it is very easy to transport.

The AluStand was provided for a period of testing by Harmonic Inversion Technology, a US distributor for Artwizz. The AluStand arrived in a slim cardboard box that advertises this aluminum notebook stand for its comfort, performace, space saving, and sleek design. This notebook stand is designed for notebooks between 12 and 16 inches in size. Inside the box were the two aluminum sides and the middle plastic piece. The assembly instructions for the notebook are just three steps and then there is a fourth step for disassembling the stand.
