Reiser4 is an out-of-tree Linux file-system designed as the successor to ReiserFS but with a questionable future and no immediate plans for merging into the Linux kernel. Reiser4 features efficient journaling, transaction support, efficient support of small files, a dynamically optimized disk-layout, and many other features over ReiserFS.
