While there was a small delay, Wayland/Weston 1.8 Alpha is now available.

Bryce Harrington announced the Wayland 1.8 Alpha on the wayland-devel list. Wayland 1.8 is bringing a new scanner option, new headers (wayland-client-core.h and wayland-server-core.h), and other changes.

Weston 1.8 meanwhile has been focused on the IVI shell, EGL modernization, and a variety of other improvements as outlined in its release announcement.

Following this the plan is to do two release candidates this month followed by Wayland 1.8.0 final on 29 May.
