One week after ARB_shader_texture_image_samples OpenGL 4.5 was added to core Mesa and the Intel driver, Ilia Mirkin has extended the support to include the RadeonSI Gallium3D driver.

With this patch sent in today, OpenGL 4.5's GL_ARB_shader_texture_image_samples extension now covers RadeonSI as well as Nouveau's NV50 and NVC0 drivers and the Intel i965 driver. The work was done by Mirkin while not being busy hacking on the Nouveau and Freedreno drivers as he's known for.

As outlined by the GL specification, "this extension provides GLSL built-in functions allowing shaders to query the number of samples of a texture."

There's still a long road ahead though before the AMD RadeonSI driver will be ready for claiming OpenGL 4.5 support on the AMD Radeon HD 7000 series and newer.
