The GNOME release team has announced the immediate release of GNOME 3.0 Beta 2. The release of GNOME 3.0 Beta 2 (v2.91.91) puts this free software desktop stack in its string and user-interface freeze.

This second beta largely brings bug-fixes and translation updates to the table, so there isn't too much new information to report on this major overhaul of the GNOME desktop.

The GNOME 3.0 release candidate is due out in just two weeks while the official and long-awaited release of GNOME 3.0 is expected to take place on the 6th of April.
