RADV Now Advertises Vulkan 1.0.42; Shader Cache Thread Queue Lands In Mesa

There were several interesting Git commits hitting Mesa 17.1-devel tonight.

First up, the Radeon Vulkan "RADV" driver's API version has been increased to v1.0.42 where it had been at v1.0.5 all this time. Bas Nieuwenhuizen commented, "I've skimmed to changes from 1.0.5 to 1.0.42 and I think we have all changes. We're still not conformant of course, but this should not regress stuff."

There still are some Vulkan extensions yet to be implemented by RADV, but good progress continues to be made.

Feral's Alex Smith has also landed another fix into RADV too.

Also noteworthy is Timothy Arceri has added the thread queue support to the Mesa on-disk shader cache. This is about improving the start-up performance for games particularly when the shader cache is cold. See that older article for more details.

Mesa 17.1 is working up to be released in early May with the feature freeze coming in April.
