For those longing to play the Dead Island action RPG / survival horror game on Linux, the Game of the Year Edition of Dead Island is now available!

We've been looking forward to Dead Island with signs of it appearing for months but since yesterday at Phoronix we've been receiving reports of Dead Island on Steam now working natively on Linux and there's also out the official Linux/SteamOS release announcement.

Dead Island was first released for other platforms in 2011 and developed by Techland and published by Deep Silver. Dead Island is powered by Techland's Chrome Engine 5. Meanwhile, Dead Island 2 is expected for a highly anticipated release next year.

Dead Island GOTY was announced yesterday for Linux and is available through Steam. Currently Dead Island is on sale for 75% off that brings the price down to just $5! I haven't yet tried it but hopefully it will be friendly for automated Linux benchmarking so we can run some graphics performance tests...
