The xf86-video-modesetting driver continues to be improved as now being built into the X.Org Server.

This generic mode-setting driver that is designed to work with any hardware having a DRM/KMS kernel driver is of interest these days to many parties and in use by several different driver stacks / vendors. For the past few months this generic DDX has acceleration support when using GLAMOR, DRI2 support, many GLAMOR optimizations, and X-Video support.

The latest feature hooked up for xf86-video-modesetting within the xorg-server code-base is support for vblank synchronization when using the new X PRESENT extension. Previously vblank sync support was just part of the driver's DRI2 code-path.

The 256 new lines of driver code landed this week with this Git commit.

The X.Org Server 1.17 release is expected in the weeks ahead.
