UBUNTU
There's been a slight boost in the crowd-funded Ubuntu Edge smart-phone / converged device project with now being up to $9.175 million dollars in funding.

This week after Bloomberg became the first corporate backer of Ubuntu Edge by pledging $80,000 USD for 100 enterprise Ubuntu Edge smart-phones, there was a slight rise in funding with the additional media coverage. Yesterday, Canonical also dropped the price of the Ubuntu Edge to $695 for the remainder of the IndieGoGo campaign.

At the time of writing, their IndieGoGo campaign is at $9,175,374 of their $32MM goal. A third of that money raised to date came in the first day of the crowd-funding campaign.

There's only 13 days left to raise just less than three-quarters of the needed funds to produce this high-end smart-phone. It's incredibly unlikely that the Ubuntu Edge project will succeed unless Mark Shuttleworth has some more tricks in his bag or ends up pledging the remainder of the funds himself, but at least they're enjoying the added mainstream media attention.
