UBUNTU
For those that didn't notice yesterday, the Ubuntu family has done their first betas for the 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" release.

Ubuntu 13.10 itself still isn't doing a development release (Canonical encourages daily ISO testing but will begin with a test release later this month) while doing 13.10 Betas this week were Edubuntu, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu Studio, and Xubuntu.

These various Ubuntu derivatives pulled in various Saucy package updates and other distribution-specific work. For details on the changes for the *buntu 13.10 Beta 1 releases visit the Ubuntu Fridge.
