Linux 4.9-rc5 Released, 4.9 On Track For Possible Release In Three Weeks
Torvalds noted, "Back to my Sunday schedule, things look fairly normal. Calm first part of the week, with most fixes coming in towards the end.. I'm used to it by now. Things have definitely gotten smaller, so a normal release schedule
(with rc7 being the last one) is still looking possible despite the large size of 4.9. But let's see how things work out over the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, there's a lot of normal fixes in here, and we just need more testing."
This would put Linux 4.9 to be officially released in three weeks with having two more RCs (-rc6 and -rc7) then the official Linux 4.9.0 one week later. But should a -rc8 be needed, we're still four weeks out from seeing Linux 4.9 and then the start of the Linux 4.10 merge window.
