HTTPS Will Be Available To All Phoronix Readers
Following the article earlier this week about HTTPS for Phoronix.com, I'm happy to share that I'm pledging to continuing to make the HTTPS support for all Phoronix readers.
Initially it wasn't known if the support would just be available to Phoronix Premium Subscribers, Phoronix Premium members, or what, following the recent Phoronix server upgrades, but thanks to the recent contributions of many Phoronix readers in the call for support, the HTTPS support will continue to be available for everyone -- even if you're an unfortunate ad-blocker depriving the site from its primary means of income.
Thanks to those that have supported Phoronix. Special thanks to Arthur, Arjen, Lars, and others that have made their HTTPS appreciation well known.
There is the known issue that those connecting to the Phoronix Forums via HTTPS have experienced some troubles. Those issues will hopefully be resolved in the next weekend or so; upgrading to vBulletin 5 will hopefully fix these issues, plus at least they'll address some mobile viewing problems for smart-phone and tablet readers. This is an important step first prior to making HTTPS potentially by default for all web traffic.
If you wish to support all of the Linux hardware testing work done at Phoronix or complement the HTTPS work being done, please consider subscribing to Phoronix Premium or making a PayPal tip. Besides HTTPS support, another goal is to also make the main web-site more mobile-friendly. Thank you for your support over the past nearly 11 years of running Phoronix!
