Facebook developers announced the release today of HHVM 3.6.0, the HipHop Virtual Machine that's at the heart of their Hack programming language and also serving as a popular PHP alternate implementation thanks to its high performance.

HHVM 3.6 brings new async features by default such as AsyncMySQL and MCRouter/memcache support. There's also async cURL support, various fixes, consistency improvements with various PHP functions, better NUMA scheduling, and much more.

Those interested in learning more about HHVM 3.6 can see today's release announcement and their NEWS file. Later in the year, Facebook plans to integrate LLVM into HHVM.
