Windows 10 Outperforming Linux On A ~$5000 Laptop, Ubuntu Beating Clear Linux
One of the areas where the Linux distributions continued to lead over Windows 10 with NTFS was in offering much better I/O performance for real-world workloads like the commonly used SQLite embedded database library.
When it came to the graphics/gaming performance with the NVIDIA RTX 5000 graphics and using the proprietary driver stack throughout, the performance tended to be similar in the GPU-demanding tests.
But in the less graphically demanding scenarios like the Xonotic first person shooter, Windows 10 was offering much better performance.
The GPU compute performance also tended to be similar between platforms, which isn't too surprising given the NVIDIA proprietary driver stack is largely a shared code-base across platforms.
