With the IOR threaded write test, the WD_BLACK SN850 was much faster than the PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD Corsair Force MP600 and Sabrenet Rocket 4.0 1TB models, nearly matching the speed of the high-end Intel Optane 900p SSD. The WD_BLACK was also much faster than the QLC-based Samsung 980 PRO and this being one of the workloads where that drive performs particularly poor.

Meanwhile for the read testing with IOR is where the 980 PRO 1TB performs well and matches that of the SN850, both of which come out slightly ahead of the Optane 900p.

For 4K random writes with FIO's IO_uring setup, the WD_BLACK SN850 was still leading over the other tested drives but by a much smaller margin against the Sabrenet Rocket 4.0 and Corsair Force MP600.
