The 512MB write performance was noticeably better with Ubuntu 9.04 over 8.10.

The 512MB read performance through IOzone was also much improved with the newer Ubuntu release currently in development. To reiterate, we are still using the EXT3 file-system with these tests, but had we manually switched to EXT4 the results would have been even more in Jaunty's favor.

Ubuntu 9.04 remained with the strongest performance when it came to the 1GB write performance.
