At LAME MP3 encoding Ubuntu 8.10 was faster than the 9.04 release, but in the real world, the difference would be indifferent.

Ubuntu 8.10 also produced better results with Ogg encoding, but by just about 1%, which is statistically insignificant for this test.

FFmpeg had produced similar results to the LAME MP3 and Ogg tests.

The compilation performance using GCC was nearly the same between the Intrepid Ibex and Jaunty Jackalope.
