VirtualBox Is Still Running Slower Than QEMU-KVM

With the last disk benchmark, VirtualBox 4.3.4 was back to running much slower than QEMU-KVM. A later Phoronix article will look at disk / file-system tuning for virtualized environments.

HPC Challenge wouldn't build under QEMU-KVM since the reported CPU string was unrecognized as "QEMU Virtual 1.7.0", but VirtualBox passes through the host's CPU string directly by default. It doesn't matter much though as the HPC Challenge performance in VirtualBox was devastatingly slow compared to the host's system performance.
