Originally with this testing the plan was to benchmark Valve's Source Engine games on Steam too, similar to the 15-way AMD/NVIDIA Source Engine comparison from a few days ago with the binary drivers, but when trying to do this test on Ubuntu 14.04 with the open-source drivers the games weren't launching over XCB DRI3 issues.

In the days ahead there will also be Intel and Nouveau/NVIDIA results added to this line-up of graphics cards being compared for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

The performance comes basically in line with expectations given the Linux 3.13 kernel and Mesa 10.1. The Radeon R7 260X performance though continues to be very awkward and still was this way with the Linux 3.14 kernel and its better DPM code. The R7 260X works great with Catalyst.

Most mid to high-end AMD Radeon graphics cards on the R600g or RadeonSI drivers can run the commercial Prey game quite fine.
