For some of the CPU benchmarks, there wasn't much of a big difference in performance going back with these Ubuntu LTS tests.

However, in some benchmarks like Himeno, the newer GCC compiler stack was of huge help in boosting the performance.

With GCC becoming more complex and gaining more optimizations, the compile times have slowed.
