In a number of the tests, like the Golang JSON parsing sub-test, the performance is largely flat between Ubuntu releases and that of Clear Linux... But there is also a number of workloads where there are noticeable performance changes with Ubuntu 18.10 and how it in turn compares to Clear Linux.

The Golang build test was one of those surprising examples where Ubuntu ended up outperforming Clear Linux on all systems except for the Core i9 7980XE box.

With the Lua JIT benchmark, on several of the systems Ubuntu 18.10 improves the performance compared to Ubuntu 18.10 where it can now compete with Clear Linux on those systems previously lagging behind.

The TTSIOD renderer performance meanwhile was mixed with Clear Linux being faster on the AMD Ryzen/Threadripper systems than Ubuntu 18.10/18.04 while on the Intel systems, Ubuntu Cosmic does offer up some performance improvements to better compete with Clear.
