Across many different workloads, booting the Ubuntu 20.10 kernel with mitigations disabled is showing slightly worse performance than leaving mitigations enabled. Given all the hardware improvements made we would expect the overall impact to be small these days like was seen with Ice Lake, but now for whatever precise reason disabling the mitigations is showing a hit to the performance.
