Ubuntu was the slowest at compiling various software while Clear Linux was the fastest. RHEL 8 compiling code slower than RHEL 7 is to be expected considering the newer GNU Compiler Collection implements more optimization passes, etc, in order to ultimately generate better performance (ideally) at the cost of slightly longer build times.

RHEL 8.0 was the fastest meanwhile for XZ compression.

PostgreSQL's read performance was a big improvement with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.0.

The Redis performance is also better on RHEL 8.0 but was no match for Clear Linux and even Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.
